#APPLE COMPRESSOR 3.5 NO CAPTIONS INSTALL#
Last week my MBP crashed so I decided it was time for a clean OSX install upgrade from Mavericks to El Capitan. Has anyone already experienced this issue? I would appreciate any help because I am beginning to like also the speed of Compressor in encoding H264 in relation to FCPX. It puzzles me to think about this situation as the one produced by FCPX is playable. The only problem only happens in my Micca HD Player. Note, that I don’t have any problem playing the file in my Macbook Pro. I already tried combinations of parameters in Quicktime using entropies and different bit rates and even audio sampling rates but no matter what I chose, the resulting file is not playable.

This time, I tried to use my Compressor to render AVCHD into a H264 file in a Quicktime Movie format but to my surprise, it is not playable in my Micca Media Player.
Last month I purchased Compressor and I found it to be so fast in rendering Quicktime Movie H.264 compared with the speed of FCPX.

I have my media player 1080p Micca and it plays the output of FCPX Quicktime H.264 with no issue. I normally output my file into an H.264 format using Quicktime as the wrapper. I edit AVCHD 1080i purely as this is the output of my Canon HD Video Camera and Sony Mirrorless Camera.
I have been editing videos for the last 8 years and it’s my first time to use FCPX last June 2015 but it did not take so much time to learn about using FCPX in my Macbook Pro and I began to like FCPX. By the way, I am using the latest OSX El Capitan. I bought Compressor due to its flexibility. I am using Macbook Pro 13 inch Retina 2015 i5 with the latest FCPX and Compressor 4.2.1. Please report your findings here when you get a chance to test 5.1 on the new Apple TV.
– using a 3rd-party app to mux the video (assuming you DO want to use multi-pass to encode your video) and AC-3 file will allow the Apple TV 4 to play the AC-3 file with some greater compatibility, BUT it will not be compatible with Airplay to the ATV 4 on pre-iOS 9 devices. – unchecking “multi-pass” allows the AC-3 file to be recognized, but encoding flags are ignored (compression, dial norm, etc) (I suspect the latter, as all my test files play fine on previous gen Apple TV models…)Īnyone else have a chance to test 5.1 audio on the new Apple TV yet? Many, many hours of testing and bug reports with Apple have yet to determine if this is a problem with Compressor or with the new Apple TV. (quite possibly with some lack of understanding on my part, but honestly, should it be that difficult to harness the full power of this expensive Mac?) lolīig issue here if you use Final Cut Pro X and Compressor to output 5.1 audio! Currently, I’m finding the new Apple TV 4 is incompatible with Dolby Digital 5.1 AC-3 (and EC-3) files generated using Compressor. I’ve always fought with Compressor…it’s never run the way I need it. Nothing else seems to be taking any % of CPU power on my Mac.įCX isn’t open and no other app except Safari is either. So, what am I doing wrong? I must be doing something silly because why else wouldn’t this horsepower machine just use ALL the cores when I want! Looking at Apple’s kb article, it says I can use 5 instances.īut when I run Compressor 4.2.1 with either those 5 instances selected or that option off, I get the following in Act.
The machine is a 12 core 2.7 with 16 GB Ram. The same occurs for both single and multi pass. I have a 3.5 hour long DV movie which I want to output to the ‘apple devices HD (best quality) setting.
